How Often Do Cats Poop

Cats all have different defecation schedules influenced by a number of factors. On average, a healthy adult cat will likely poop at least once a day. A cat may poop more or less than this and still be perfectly healthy. The frequency your cat poops will depend on their diet, activity levels, age, and whether they have any known medical issues. As a rule of thumb, most cats will poop every 12 to 36 hours. If it has been more than 48 to 72 hours since your cat has pooped, it is worth speaking to your veterinarian for advice.

For example, indoor cats typically poop once every day or two and cats that spend all their time outside may only poop once every week.
