It is home to expeditionary forces in readiness and is a warfighting platform from which Marines and Sailors train, operate, launch and recover while providing support to their families and the surrounding community.
Camp Lejeune is located along the coast of the **Atlantic Ocean**. Its 14 miles (23 kilometers) of beaches make the base a major area for amphibious assault training.
