When Is Mothers Day

Mother's Day is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. In the United States, Mother's Day is celebrated on the **second Sunday of May** . This year (2023), Mother's Day falls on **Sunday, May 14**.

The idea started in America when a woman called Anna Jarvis held a small memorial service for her own mother on 12 May 1907. She then began a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother's Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.
